Have you experienced problems with the Sharepoint click thumbnail display?

I am experiencing problems with my Sharepoint 2012 in which the thumbnails are not displaying.

Can anyone please tell me what seems to be the problem and help me so that I can see the display in thumbnails?

If you can, please guide me how to create thumbnail gallery in Sharepoint.

I am running Windows 7 and I find it a bit heavy for my computer system. I would like to switch to Windows XP platform to be able to meet the system requirements without any doubt. Having successfully installed both SharePoint 2013 and the Release Candidate (RC) Version of Visual Studio 2012 I went ahead to create a SharePoint project in Visual Studio 2012 but I however encountered this error. Anybody who can help resolve this?

A SharePoint server is not installed on this computer. A SharePoint server must be installed to work with SharePoint projects.
