Virus or settings causes slow internet connection

My Internet connection is deadly slow. Is it due to any virus attack or settings problem? Please help me overcome this difficulty.

Virus or settings causes slow internet connection

A virus attack may just be one of the causes that may lead to slow internet connections. But usually when a virus affects the computer, you will notice some unusual performances like files getting replicated, a different url opening when you open an address and so forth. If you have noticed any unusual behavior with the computer that might be as a result of a virus attack you will need to perform a full scan of your computer to try and eliminate that virus.

Otherwise, slowness in internet connection may be also as a result of activities that you are carrying on your computer. For instance downloading takes up a lot of bandwidth and therefore might lead to slow internet speeds. Opening many tabs in the browser may be bandwidth consuming too.

The health of your computer can affect your Internet connection. Spyware and viruses can definitely cause problems, but your Internet connection speed can also be affected by add-on programs, the amount of memory the computer has, hard disk space and condition, and the programs that are running.

Two of the most frequent causes of poor Internet performance are spyware and viruses. Spyware can slow your system by interfering with your browser and monopolizing your Internet connection. Spyware monitors your Internet use and keystrokes, which adds delays. The problem is compounded when there are multiple spyware programs running at the same time. If the problem is severe enough, you can lose connectivity altogether. To get your Internet performance back, you should regularly run an antispyware program to clean out any spyware infestation.

If your internet connection is very slow, check the type of connection you are using. If you are using wireless internet like with a 3G or 4G USB broadband stick, having a slow internet connection is very normal. Wireless internet has varying speeds because the connection itself depends on the signal reception of the device.

If your device is receiving very low signal, it can affect the speed of your connection. To improve the speed of your connection, try transferring to another location where you can receive strong signal. If you are using Wi-Fi connection, check the level of the Wi-Fi signal you are receiving.

If the signal is very weak, move closer to where the Wi-Fi router is located to improve the signal reception. I don’t think viruses can make your internet connection slow. What it normally does is make the system extremely slow and not the internet connection.
