Photoshop Elements Crashing at Initialization

Hi there! There's something wrong with my Photoshop Elements 3.0.

An error pops up when I load it. This error shows during the initialization phase.

This actually crashes my Photoshop Elements.

Do you guys know the problem behind this, or even the meaning of the error code?

Help will really be appreciated.

Photoshop Elements Crashing at Initialization

That problem with Photoshop and Photoshop Elements can be fixed by simply resetting the Preferences file.

You will just need to use the procedure below to do that.

• First of all you will need to completely shut down the Photoshop Elements.
• And then you will need to hold down the Control + Alt + Shift keys on the keyboard.
• And thereafter you will need to click on the icon to start Elements.
• Thereafter you will need to click OK so as to reset the preferences file.

That should surely help you fix the problem that you are having now.

Photoshop Elements Crashing at Initialization

Hello,

QuickTime components are supposed to be the main reason for this issue.

First I suggest you to update Photoshop elements where the problem has originated. If that doesn't go well, try on this method.

It is regarding the main and known reason i mentioned first.

For some reason Photoshop elements need those QuickTime libraries to be loaded in order to work.

Those files' original location is C:/Program files/QTSystem.

Rename that folder as QTSystem1 and try loading the elements again. It will work fine.

The renaming part bypasses the folder which was the reason for the issue.

This is worth trying.

Photoshop Elements Crashing at Initialization

To troubleshoot, first, check that your computer meets the requirements. Photoshop Elements 3.0 supports Windows 2000 Service Pack 4 and Windows XP (Home or Professional edition) Service Pack 1. It requires 800 MHz Intel Pentium 3 or faster processor, 256 MB RAM, 800 MB free space, 1024 x 768 16-bit minimum screen resolution, and Microsoft DirectX 9.0.

Try updating your operating system to the latest Service Pack. Since you’re on Windows XP, download Windows XP Service Pack 3. This is the latest and last Service Pack update for Microsoft Windows XP. See if this works. If this doesn’t work, try re-creating the preferences file. For Windows XP, open Windows Explorer then navigate to “C:\Documents and Settings\[User Name]\Application Data\Adobe\Elements Organizer\[Version]\Organizer\”.

You need to show hidden files and folders to navigate to the path. In Windows Explorer, click “Tools” then “Folder Options”. In “Folder Options” window, go to “View” tab then scroll down and select “Show hidden files and folders” under “Hidden Files and folders” and then click “OK”. On the folder, look for the file called “psa.prf” and rename to without quotes “psa.old”.

After this, start Photoshop Elements then see if it works.
