Hi, I have this subject in college named wireless networking which is totally new for me. I want to know the definition of wide area network and the difference between LAN; WAN is and MAN. Also, can you explain the working of a WAN?

Wireless Networks: Definition Of Wide Area Network

Hi. The definition of wide area network can be stated as a telecommunication network which can span across cities and cities. It also links Local area networks and metropolitan area networks. The difference between LANs, WANs and MANs is that LAN connects computers within the same building or in the nearby range. WAN is used to connect cities and countries and MAN is used to connect buildings in the same city. WAN can be either point-to-point or packet-switched networks. In point-to-point communication, a direct connection to the modem is done and in a packet-switched network, packets are used to send the data. Packet-switched data is used up in case there is fewer amounts of data to be transmitted and the point-to-point network is used by companies dealing with telephones. The uses of WANs are many such as it provides the ability to access the remote data and enter data or perform some other functionality on the database. It also provides access to the network.
