Hi. I have been getting the error the processing of group policy failed whenever I try to apply group policy via GUPDATE. What are its additional symptoms and causes behind it and how can it be resolved?

The processing of group policy failed-File read by Windows

Hi. There is an additional symptom of the processing of group policy failed error which is that it gives the error “network path not found” whenever you try to connect to the network.

Causes of the error are as follows-

• Domain Name System issues

• Due to termination of TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper

Resolution-

• Start the TCP/IP NetBIOS Helper Service > Set the startup type to automatic

• Test browse to other DCs by clicking on start>run>typing \DC2 to make sure that the DNS resolution works
