How to unlock ppt for Mac? I just switch to mac operating system and still on the process of familiarizing the main features of the said operating system. I would like to unlock the PowerPoint application in my Mac operating system, I don’t know why is it locked and cannot be used or open. Please help me to resolve this.

How to unlock ppt for Mac?

Hi Davis,

 

Mac computers cannot open PowerPoint (.ppt, .pptx) files by default. Although there is a program in Mac called Keynote in the iWork suite. But they cannot display .ppt files exactly. You will need to download PowerPoint Apps from the internet. The two most suited apps are given below.

 

Option 1:

 

Download the Microsoft PowerPoint for Mac. This application can open and save .ppt and .pptx files without any changes. This app is sold by the Office bundle but is also sold separately.

Option 2:

 

You can use a free office suite called NeoOffice. NeoOffice is a part of Open Office and is specially designed for Mac. Use NeoOffice Impress to view and edit .ppt files and save them.

How to unlock ppt for Mac?

Please carefully follow these instructions:
 

1. For Mac, open and save the files in .ppt and .pptx file format using Microsoft PowerPoint. Mac is having PowerPoint as part of the Office suite for Mac is one of its productivity applications, but it is separately sold. The PowerPoint for Mac is proven to be completely compatible with the PowerPoint application found in Windows. You can open the file without any problems or formatting any changes except if the file contains various fonts that are not recognized by the Mac computer.
2. In Apple’s presentation program, open .pptx and .ppt files in Keynote. Keynote is very similar to the features found on PowerPoint which is part of the iWork application suite. This application can open PowerPoint files with minimal changes in formatting. Presentations can also be saved or exported to .ppt format.
3. Open .pptx and .ppt files on your Mac using a NeoOffice Impress. The impress is included with NeoOffice which is an open source application suite that is used as the presentation software. Impress can also open and edit .pptx and .ppt files similar to PowerPoint but it does not support elements in video which are included in the file.

How to unlock ppt for Mac?

This depends on which Mac OS version you are using, but in the version I have, I can select a file, choose Get Info from the File menu, and under the General section, look for the check box marked Locked. Uncheck that and you should be good to go.
