Auto Save feature of Mac OS X Lion

Auto save for documents is one of the most attractive feature of Mac OS X Lion. Nevertheless Auto save will not save a modified file over a formerly saved file, but rather will form versions of the file so that you may browse through previous drafts. Please I need your opinion, if this is going to reduce the chances of data loss?

Auto Save feature of Mac OS X Lion

I think that is only one of the security features of Mac OS X Lion. It’s also the same as the Auto save Recovery option of Microsoft Office where it constantly saves the file after every interval. But the difference is, in Microsoft Office it doesn’t make versions of the file, it only creates a temporary backup of the file in case the application suddenly exits or a power interruption unexpectedly happens. I think they have the same purpose of creating a backup of the file that you are currently working on. This ensures a possible recovery of the file in case there is an unexpected interruption in the computer.

And yes it is true, it helps lessen data loss.
