How to add header/ footer to a word document?

Hello, 

I started to work with Microsoft word near recently. Therefore I have a very little knowledge about available options. I want to know how I can add a Header / footer to a word sheet.

How to add header/ footer to a word document?

If you are new to Microsoft word you will have to learn a lot of options available in the same. I will explain that how should you add a header footer to a word document using an example.

First open the document that you want to add header / footer and click on insert tab.

Then click on the Header icon which is in Header & Footer section.

Now select any type of header that you want to add and click on it.

Now type the header that you want according to your document.

In the same way you are able to add a footer to the document. Please follow the same steps.

How to add header/ footer to a word document?

When inserting header or footer first you want to point the cursor on the page, where you want to add a Header or a Footer.

Then just go to the insert tab. Next click on the Header/ Footer icon.

Then there will appear Header/ Footer styles.

Now what you want to do is only selecting any style.

Basically Header/ Footer styles vary one another from the place where the page no., text is, and the style page No.s appears.

Also you can use any images for Header/ Footer.

Keep in mind , if there are many pages in your document normally Header/ Footer that you insert, will be on the every page of the document.

How to Add Headers and Footers to a Microsoft Word Document

Step 1

Open Microsoft Word using the "Start" menu or the shortcut on your Desktop.

Open the document to which you want to add a header or footer.

Step 2

Double-click on the top portion of the document to access the header section.

Insert text or an image you want displayed throughout the document.

Step 3

Insert text or images in the footer of the document. Double-click on the footer area if it doesn't appear. Double-click on the document text to exit the header and footer view.

How to add header/ footer to a word document?

It is very easy to add header and footer in Microsoft word document. I describe it step by step procedure 

Step 1:

At first you need to open your Microsoft word document and then click on insert tab.

Step 2:

Then click on the header or footer section. If you click a header section then it shows you a list of built in header or if you click a footer section then it shows you a list of built in the footer.

Step 3:

Click anyone from the header or footer list and it will automatically add a header or footer in your document.
