Error when Kerning characters in Adobe Illustrator

Hi Experts,

I was using Adobe Illustrator on my Mac.  Yesterday, I was trying to manually adjust the kerning between characters when I got this error message about an invalid numeric value. 

I pressed the button OK but nothing happened and I had to kill the program and start again. 

I have searched the web, and it seemed that it was a bug. 

I turned into this forum because you might have answers to resolve the problem. 

Can you help me?

Error when Kerning characters in Adobe Illustrator

You did what was necessary by restarting you program, whenever you get an error remember to always restart your computer's system this helps in refreshing the memory of the system. Check that you have in the parameter option's tab you have set the Extract with only numbers for you to be able to extract numbers in your Adobe illustrator. Set this option to include items and all items including numbers and optional white spaces. This options should be included for you to be able to use numerics otherwise your Adobe illustrator will read any attempt to do this as an error in the system. Check that you have updated drives and also that your system's RAM and processor speed are not being compromised to rule out problems with the system. Update the Mac as a routine maintenance to avoid system errors in future.

Error when Kerning characters in Adobe Illustrator

Hello Grace,

You are getting that error most likely because you are using an outdated version of Adobe Illustrator. You will therefore need to do the following in order to resolve the issue that you are getting:

• Go to the Manufacturer's website and look for a most recent version of Adobe Illustrator that is available and suitable for the operating system version that you are using right now.
• You will need to download it, and then uninstall the one you have right now on your system and install the updated version. See if the issue disappears after that.
