Conextant Sound card 5.1 sorround support not fucntioning

I have a Conextant sound card but its specification shows that it supports a 5.1 surround system however when I connected it to my home theater it does not initialize entirely. How can I troubleshoot for this? I want to be able to use my system on my computer and enjoy the sound. Is there something that could be missing?

Hi Anthony,

Most of the time, issues like this are due to obsolete drivers. In this case, first you need to download the updated drivers by going to http://www.conexant.com/products/audio-smart/. It has all the newest drivers. After updating, check if that solves the problem.

If the above doesn't solve the problem, try to check if the speakers are indeed working. Try to go to the application's sound mixer and play around with bother Fader and Balance. You should be able to see there if front/back/left/right speakers are working. Should there be a speaker that it isn't working, you may repeat the procedure on a different PC. If the problem persist, bring it to the nearest service center.
