The kids are surely going to love this new gadget made especially for them. Is the Archos Child Pad open for other application installation?

Archos Child Pad a tablet for children

Archos 7-inch Child Play is a new kid-friendly tablet that has been released in May 2012. It passed the FCC's inspection so it is on the market and it has no problems. It runs on Android 4.0 and it has an 800×480 screen, 1 Ghz ARM Cortex A8 CPU, 1GB of RAM and 4 GB built-in storage memory.

Archos has done a good job by implementing pre-loaded tidbits such as games, apps and other funny stuff. It has an apps Store that contains all the apps that can be used by kids, but I don't think that the pad is locked because a parent should be able to change the content of the device as he wants.

The ARCHOS 80 ChildPad is an inexpensive Android tablet designed for children. It has an 8-inch screen with 1024 x 768 pixels screen resolution running on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean powered by a single-core A9 1 GHz processor with dual-core GPU. It has a microSD expandable up to 64 GB with 4 GB internal storage running on 1 GB RAM.

It has a built-in speaker and microphone with G-sensor, 3.5-millimeter jack, and HDMI output port. It runs on an internal Lithium Polymer battery which can then be recharged with its external charger. It measures 158 x 217 x 11 millimeters weighing 425 grams. The unit is able to play audio files with file formats such as MP3, OGG Vorbis, WAV, AAC, and FLAC.

It can connect to the internet through Wi-Fi. It has front and back cameras and the back camera supports 2 megapixels. It can play HD videos in 1080p at 30 fps and videos like AVI, 3GP, MP4, MOV, MPG, MKV, PS, TS, and FLV. In case a movie has a subtitle, it also supports subtitles in these formats: .srt, .sub, .ssa, and .smi.
