I wanted to ask about:

I have an integrated ATI radeon Xpress 200M GPU, and I'm able to play almost any game up to 2005-2006 release dates. Recently I have been thinking of over clocking it so I can possibly run even better games on it.

I have purchased a laptop cooler-desk, and I think I'm ready for over clocking.

Only problem is I'm not sure how to do it safely. Should I use a program in order to do so or over clock it using the BIOS.

Please provide me with a sufficient guide on how can I do this.

The best tool/program for overclocking ATI video cards are OmegaDrivers and ATI tool.

Remember that overclocking can fry your hardware if done in excess so be very careful.

I personally use ATI tool, you can easily overclock your video card just by simply moving the sliders up (there are two sliders, memory and clock speed).

Overclocking inside the BIOS is still by far the best option when it comes to overclocking since this is where you see best results.

But it is very rare (I, personally have not yet to seen one) for a BIOS to contain overclocking options for onboard video card.

If you have an AMD or NVIDIA video card, there are several tools you can use to overclock the video card. The first option available is ATITool. This is an overclocking program designed for ATI and NVIDIA video cards for Windows 2000, Windows XP, and Windows Server 2003. Among its features include:

  • No limit overclocking
  • Support for overclocking NVIDIA video cards
  • Adjust GPU and memory voltage (if supported by the video card)
  • Tweaking of memory timings (supported by most ATI video cards)
