IDM problem in my laptop

My laptop is Toshiba with Intel Core 2 Duo Ghz II with newly installed Windows 7 SP 1 64-Bit. I have a Internet Download Manager installed also. But it is giving me Error 0x80040154 stating I cannot transfer file to IDM. How can I fix this?

IDM problem in my laptop

Hello Nahid,

Well I did face a similar problem with Internet Downloading Manager couple of days ago.

Let me share a trick that helped me come out of this issue-

1. First Uninstall your IDM

2. Now Download and Install Ccleaner from (http://download.cnet.com/ccleaner/)

3. After Installing Run Registry Scan in CCleaner

4. After the scan Fix all the items

5. Follow this step of scanning and fixing registry twice

6. Now after this Re-Install IDM again

And that's it you're done.

Well this worked pretty well for me.

If still the problem persist than either your RAM is the problem or your HDD or a third party software. In that case I would suggest you to start memory test and check also if its a virus problem then you can scan your PC completely and am sure this will work.

Hello Nahid,

The problem here should be with the Internet Download Manager that you are trying to install. I doubt if your windows has a problem. The IDM set up could be corrupt and therefore you will need to get another good one from the internet.  But find clean up all the problems that may be with the registries by running the ccleaner application which you can download for free online.

You can download IDM from btjunkie.org or cnet downloads, and make sure it is a good setup that will not bring problems again. Install it and see if it works well for you.

IDM problem in my laptop

Since you are using Internet Download Manager, check if the program has been integrated with your operating system properly. Open Internet Download Manager then go to Settings or Tools.

Check the settings if it is enabled or activated in all supported web browsers and programs and then apply it. Restart the program and then try it again. If you are using Internet Download Manager while it is in its trial period, make sure its free days are still ok and not expired.

If the trial period has already been exhausted, you need to purchase it otherwise you need to uninstall it. If you updated Internet Download Manager using the program’s internal or built-in updater, you need to update it manually. Open your web browser, visit Internet Download Manager, and then download the latest version, Internet Download Manager 6.17.

After that uninstall Internet Download Manager from your computer and then restart your machine. After booting open Windows Explorer then go to “C:Program Files”. Delete Internet Download Manager’s folder if uninstalling it didn’t remove the folder. After removing the folder, install the latest version you just downloaded. This trial version has only 30 days for use.
