I have a Dell laptop that has Windows 7 64 bit as it operating system. I downloaded the Microsoft Security Essentials from the Microsoft website to work as my anti virus. Is Microsoft Security Essentials enough to protect my laptop from the viruses and malware? If not, which are some good and free anti virus programs that I can use?

 Hi there!

Microsoft Security Essentials is enough on you system, as the only protection. The thing is, it is great, but not the best antivirus on the market. During some research among top used anti-virus programs, Security Essentials passed almost 99% of the tests, and Malwarebytes, Bitdefender and Kaspersky did the best job. MSE is following them on the list, as it is updated regularly (except for Windows XP), with few other anti virus suites.

Personally, speaking from experience, I can say I did not have any troubles, as I've used Dell laptop with just Microsoft Essentials as security for a confidential work.

Respectfully,

Mathew

Microsoft Security Essentials is by far the best Anti-Virus all in all full system security software for me. I have been using Microsoft Security Essentials sine 3 years and I can say it is the best. In removing virus, protecting your PC from Malware etc., Below are some of the features of Microsoft Security Essentials

1. Protection from Virus,

2. Protection from Malware,

3. Protection from Spyware,

4. Protection from Adware,

5. It scans the PC without slowing it down, as many of the Anti-virus software slows down the PC while scanning

6. Easy removal of quarantined virus, as in the McAfee I have seen removal of detected virus is not an easy task.

Just keep your Microsoft Security Essentials updated and enjoy Virus free browsing on your PC.
