Weird files on flash memory disk, cannot be deleted

Hi,

I have a Sony Micro Vault USB, like this one described on this site

and I found some weird files on it, all in a directory marked as "Read-only" and I can't delete/modify any file and the directory is locked.

The files are extension less, with huge sizes (about 50GB) while my flash drive is only 32GB.

I want to remove these files but failed, I can't format it, not even using the command-prompt.

Any suggestions ?

If you have used up all the conventional means of trying to delete files that cannot be deleted, you might want to try making use of a third party software such as Unlocker.  Unlocker is a free software that unlocks previously locked files that you may be able to either delete, edit, or change location. MoveOnBoot is another free software too that you can use to delete files that you cannot delete. Another solution to deleting files that cannot be deleted would be to access and delete those files that cannot be deleted using the Administrator mode of your computer. The final solution to clean your USB would be to just format the thumb drive.

The solution to format the flash is to follow the following procedure:

1. Connect you flash disk
2. Right click “my computer” icon, then click manage. A dialog box will appear with the title Computer management. There is a task pane on the left of dialog box. Navigate to storage/Disk management.
3. When you click disk management you will be able to see on the right of the dialog box all the disk in the computer including you flash disk. Right click the flash and click format. Format box appears, select FAT32 as file system and check the box perform a quick format, click ok.
4. Another dialog box will appear as warning, ignore the warning and click the continue option. If it fail repeat 2, 3 times and this will eventually do the task.

Hello Dear,

I think that these files have names that are symbols and signs.

These files cannot be understood because they do not have a proper name.

These files are created by the defective file system when we format the flash drive.

It creates a file system which allows us to keep our data on the flash drive for a long time, but when some security holes become defective, the data merges with others, and these massive files are created.

You have no choice to delete these files.

Just format your flash drive and copy all your data again.
