I am unable to play videos using Windows Media Player on my Windows 10 PC. Here is the scenario – I bought photos and videos from a friend on a USB stick. Those were clicked from a DSLR. When I play the videos, I encounter a 0xc00d36e5 error. Is there any way to solve this?

Method 1

The easiest way and an effective one is to copy the videos from the current USB to another USB. Your media player is not able to read files from your USB. This sounds lame, but if you have a piece of deep technical knowledge, you will understand this. Anyway, give it a shot.

Method 2

Try another media player. You can use another media player like VLC or WinX DVD player.
a. Just go to your favorite browser, type the name of your media player, followed by the download keyword.
b. Download and run the executable file.
c. Follow the instructions to install the software.
d. Play your video.

Method 3

If your problem persists, the files might be corrupted.

d. Repair your video files, and try to play.
