Battery testers. Is there any device that we can use?

Hi,

Battery testers. Is there any device that we can use?

At home i have 100's of AA and AAA batteries.

Now i need to dispose them but want to first check them if they have power or not.

How can i check it?

Battery testers. Is there any device that we can use?

Basically, you will know when a battery is weak already by just pressing it between your fingers. Squeeze it between your fingers as hard as you can. If the battery's body can be squeezed, it is already weak and almost drained. But this only applies to those type of batteries with non-metallic shell. If you really want to know if a battery is already weak or already drained, you need to do an experiment. Prepare:

1. 1 LED light.
2. 2 pieces of wires.

Cut both ends of both wires to expose the copper inside. Connect each wire to each leg of the LED. Much better if you can solder it so it won't move. If both wires are already secured, put the other end of the wires to each pole of the battery. The LED will glow if the battery has still power. Do this on all the batteries you have. You can now separate those batteries that can still be used and those that needs to be replaced already.

There is thousand ways to test your battery that we use ours all the time, especially now that we have kids. Mostly to see if the batteries have charge or not.

 

It's also a good idea to occasionally test your sets of cells. Do so by pulling the cells out of your powered device when they've been run down and nearly discharged, but are still powering the device. Check each cell with a battery tester such as the Radio Shack 22-093.

 

If any cell measures much lower than the others, discard it, and recombine the remaining cells into sets with other cells of the same vintage. It's best to use a battery tester rather than a volt meter, because a battery tester places a small load on the battery and gives you a more realistic test.

 

Last, I remembered that once in a while I'd want to charge batteries in a motel room. I’ll give you a picture that may also help you.

 

The battery may consist some realistic causes unlike glass, paper, and plastic, which fill up landfills, but are relatively benign, batteries are filled with reactive chemicals. So be careful an do your work very carefully.
