Adobe Reader update installation error

Hi,

I was using the Acrobat Reader 9.4.2 on my Windows operating system. But yesterday a message pop upped for the update of the reader. I updated the files, but when I tried to install the files it failed. A message was displayed showing “Error code 1646”.

I tried numerous times looking for a solution online but could not find the answer. Tell me if you can help me with this. Thanks.

Adobe Reader update installation error

Hello Dear,

You are using Acrobat Reader 9.4.2. Now it is showing error when installing updates. Error code 1646. Here are some solutions for you. Please follow the instruction.

Very simple steps just follow:

• Download the error code 1646 repair application from this link: ErrorCode 1646 Repair Application.
• Open the application.
• Setup software now and click the scan button.
• Now click the repair errors button when the diagnostic scan successfully done.
• Restart your computer.
• Check updates installation.
• If still problems are remains, then you need to reinstall your operating system.

Adobe Reader update installation error

Try downloading the 9.4.2 patch manually from the link but do not download the MUI version. And then save the msp file on your desktop.

Launch the Command Prompt and then type the following command:

msiexec /p (space after p)

And then drag and drop the msp file on the command line window. It will list the entire path to msp file. Type /L*V "C:Readerpatch.log" /qb after the last quote and press the enter key. This will strike the patch installer off.
