The main purpose of the shopping cart is to lead the buyer to the checkout. Generally it should contain the product summary, paying options, shipping methods, price, return policy and many more important facts. Whenever the customers select to checkout, they should be directed to a well designed cart. Including the logos of payment methods makes your cart highly convenient. It should also ensure safe transactions and good security.

Store.apple.com, Gucci.com, Store.nike.com, Ae.com and Yoox.com are some sites which contain efficient shopping carts.

If you wish to create your own shopping cart, you need to be knowledgeable in most of the programming language such as html, php, etc. You also need to know the database wherein your customer accounts and other information that you need will be stored. You need to study the online shopping cart process as well. From checking in, to choosing the products, payments and logging out. If you have a knowledge in html and php, then you can use free shopping cart templates that you will search on the web, and customize it.
