What is the purpose of this particular command in routing protocol ospf?

Link-state Retransmit Interval command Purpose

Hi Jesdale, thats a good question you have asked, since the functions are not most commonly known! the purpose of 'ip ospf retransmit-interval' is used to measure the time intervals between link-state advertisements retransmissions for adjacencies belonging to the interface.

An expected round trip delay is supposed to be between any two routers on the attached network. The value must be greater than the expected round-trip delay

Link-state Retransmit Interval command Purpose

Ip ospf retransmit-interval command is used to set the number of seconds between advertisement retransmission for adjacencies on an interface. The number of seconds between the advertisements is called retransmit interval.

When an OSPF sends an advertisement to an adjacent router then it expects to receive an acknowledgment from that neighbor. If no acknowledgment is received from the neighbour the router retransmits the advertisement to its neighbor. Number of seconds between the retransmission is controlled by the retransmit interval timer.
