Cannot connect to the internet after Avast installation

Hi,

I am not able to access the internet after installing Avast Free Antivirus. I have tried all browsers installed on my computer (Chrome, IE and Mozilla). All web pages reply with “cannot access the internet”. When I disable the antivirus I can connect to the internet but this is not a solution because the idea is to secure my online environment. What should I do? What is causing such an error and what other free antivirus software are available?

Cannot connect to the internet after Avast installation

Hi James,

The reason why you can’t access to the internet after installing Avast Free Antivirus because the Avast Antivirus has a firewall that block or restrict your internet connection. To be able to solve it, you should run the software and look for a tab that says Internet Firewall to disable it or add an exception.

Please be reminded that it is recommendable to just add an exception to have internet connection rather than disabling it for security purpose.

Alternatively, you can uninstall the anti-virus software and try AVG anti-virus software.
