Hello,

I have a problem with my Logitech webcam that does not work and it was working fine before. The software tells me that another applications using it and I have to stop it. But I do not see what could use my webcam.

I work under Windows XP. If anyone has an idea, I thank in advance.

Maybe you have a utility tool like Norton Utilities, Norton SystemWorks, or PC Tools Performance Toolkit that is currently accessing the application. And most of the time, your own antivirus is the one accessing the application. I have noticed it when I was still using Norton Antivirus before. My system is very busy reading something and when I check in the Windows Task Manager, it is my antivirus that is reading or accessing or maybe diagnosing something and I suspect that it is reading one of my installed application that is currently loaded in the memory because it is included in Windows startup. Antivirus programs do this because they monitor the applications’ behavior in the system.

If this happens with your Logitech webcam and a simple system restart didn’t help, try completely uninstalling the webcam’s driver. I think if I’m not mistaken, after removing the webcam’s driver your system will ask for a restart. Restart your computer. Install again your webcam’s driver and check if it works this time.
