Failure to display security and shut down options

Hi everyone,

System Specification:

• Acer Aspire 4730 Laptop
• Windows 7 Ultimate x64
• Processor – Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T3200
• VGA – 14.1 WXGA high brightness Acer CrystalBrite TFT LCD 1280×800 pixel resolution
• Memory – 2GB DDR2
• Graphics – Mobile Intel GL40 Express Chipset
• Hard Drive – 160GB

I am receiving error:

 

 

Failure to display security and shut down options.

The logon process was unable to display security and logon options when CTRL+ALT+DELETE was pressed. If the operating system does not respond, press ESC or restart the computer by using the power switch.

This error pops up and is making my whole computer to freeze. Pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del doesn't help at all. It will be okay for a while then continue running slowly. This is really questionable since I made a fresh install of Windows 7 to my computer system. The screen will turned black and in front of it is the error box, which means that it came from a sudden hang.

When I pressed Esc, it will return to my windows normal mode but the error appears every once in a while. I don't have any anti virus loaded on my pc. Pressing OK will disappear the error box, only the black screen is present. 

I want to know the causes and solutions for this.

Dear Keiley,

This is not a very serious problem at all at the point of view of software rather than hardware problem.

The causes and solutions are described below. These may be caused of your hardware settings.

At first you have to check that your laptop is Windows Seven 64 bit supported or not?

If not, please reinstall windows seven 32bit (86X).

If your laptop is 64 bit supported, then please check your power or adapter. Reinstall your video driver.

Check your power switches and check the temperature which should be kept cool.

Install PCI express and VGA supports supplied by your provider. I think, this will work on your computer.

WOW! Thanks rowland24.

I run the clean boot from Microsoft site on safe mode.

And checked on all the drivers and also if my computer can run 64 bit.

Problem fixed now.

Even if I’m not using a 64-bit operating system, this kind of error can always be triggered by a certain problem.

If you know you are using a 64-bit version of Microsoft Windows or will be installing its 64-bit edition, you should know that you will also need a machine that supports 64-bit architecture. Or in other words, 64-bit operating systems go with 64-bit computer and not with x86 architectures.

Yes, of course, you can install a 64-bit platform on a 32-bit machine and the setup wizard will permit it but it will always come down to this problem after the installation.

So, to make sure that no problem will arise, check your machine first so you can verify if it is a 32-bit model or a 64-bit architecture so you can decide after that which edition of Microsoft Windows you will be installing.

If your computer is 32-bit, you need to install Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit. So try installing Microsoft Windows 7 32-bit edition to probably fix this problem.

In a 64-bit desktop computer, you will know that it is 64-bit by looking on its motherboard. You will supposedly see “64-bit” printed on the board.
