I'm new to MS Project and I plan on installing it to track, manage and have better control for specific projects.
Are MS Project formula capabilities the same as Excel?
I have MS Project 2007 on a Windows Vista 64 bit system.

Ms project should be your first choice to accomplish the projects estimates and resource sharing. Excel has its own capabilities but one thing which the excel can't do is that how to rescheduled the task and recurrence tasks.
As far as formula capabilities, it has all as excel has.
One good thing is use of work breakdown structure. Scheduled tasks, resource allocation, estimating time, cost and budget, all can be done by using only Ms project these capabilities can only be in project.
