To convert videos in VOB format to AVI files, you need to install MPEG2 and AC3 plug-ins in addition to VirtualDub:

http://home.comcast.net/~fcchandler/Plugins/MPEG2/index.html

http://home.comcast.net/~fcchandler/AC3ACM/index.html

The files need to be compressed when converted to AVI and saved, so the system needs to get installed with XviD codecs.

Then follow the steps below:

In the VIDEO_TS folder select first VOB file, Click Open and you will be asked for four extended options. Among four, choose “Open multiple VOB files as one file”.

To compress the file, Go to Video option in VirtualDub > Full processing mode > Compressor > select XviD codec > Save as AVI file.
