Unspecified Error in Running AVG 2012

I am using AVG 2012 Free Edition with my Sony laptop. It runs with Windows 7. When starting the antivirus an “Unspecified Error” occurred with choices of Yes or No on the error window. What should I do?

Unspecified Error in Running AVG 2012

I understand how frustrating it is (especially with anti-virus) when after using a certain program for a long time you will suddenly encounter an error message after getting it’s updated.  However, there are some instances that there may have been conflicts, thus the error message pops-up afterwards.  AVG issues are usually resolved by completely removing it from your system and reinstalling it. Here are the proper steps to follow to have it uninstalled totally before reinstalling it:

1. Uninstall AVG from the Add/Remove Programs
2. Restart your computer
3. Use the AVG Removal Tool to remove the traces of AVG. The AVG Removal Tool is available through https://www.avg.com/en-us/utilities
4. Restart your computer once more
5. Install the AVG latest available download from https://www.avg.com/en-ww/download
