I’m using MS Office 2010, and I’m trying to open some downloaded items but I can’t open it in any formats at all. I tried to open the files that I’m able to open before with MS Office 2010 but I could not open it now. I only get error messages depending on the program I’m trying to open. Some error messages are:  there is a problem with the contents, file may be in use by another application, or file may be corrupted.  Can you please help me to fix this?

It seems that the files that you just downloaded are in a format that is not supported by ms office 2010 version that you are using. Here are some reasons as to why you are not able to open the files:

  • There are compatibility issues, maybe the files were created in ms office 2003 and therefore cannot open in ms office 2010.
  • The files may have been corrupt during the downloading process, and therefore you will need to try downloading the files one more time and see if they will work.
  • There may be a virus on your computer that is corrupting the files, and for that case you will need to perform a thorough scan of your system to remove any viruses that may be affecting the files.

The files was corrupted. So i scan the entire system as you suggested, had pc clean up to remove the viruses. Thanks for the help. It worked!!!!
