Hello! I am switching from Windows 8 to Linux and I have been told that I need a USB or a DVD for that. But why? I mean is there some way I can install Linux without using USB or DVD? I just want to replace Windows 8 with Linux for good.

Switching From Windows to Linux

Hello,

Windows is the most popular platform and Linux is a much far behind than that. Yet it provides many benefits that Windows doesn’t. Switching from Windows to Linux is a risky task.

First of all, it’s strongly recommended to back up your files elsewhere, for example, in flash drive or portable HDD or on the cloud.

Then, get the Linux installation ISO from their official websites. Ubuntu, Fedora, Linux Mint etc. are one of the finest Linux editions.

After downloading the ISO, you can use UNetootin to create a bootable USB. Universal USB Installer is also available for this purpose.

Then, from the Linux’s website, view the tutorial of doing a fresh installation of Linux. Learn how to install Ubuntu, Fedora, and  Linux Mint.
