Hi Stefen Flaming, This is your original inquiry; I have been using Windows XP in my computer. Recently, I downloaded a program from the internet and the ability to save has been disabled. Having problem saving things from internet. Is there any way out to solve this problem? I may misunderstood your question, you mention it the phrase that the ability to save the file is disabled, right? Possible problem might be is the firewall, it might block the file to be saved in your computer. * Disable your firewall and or lower the settings of your firewall to allow access and ability to save. > To disable Windows firewall, Go to Start, Control Panel, System, Security and Disable Windows Firewall. > To disable 3rd party firewall, Right click on the Security software Icon in the System Tray and choose firewall and disable it. > This might be restricted by an advanced user of this computer that knows how to disable programs and features, if so, you need an IT guy that knows how to put it back. When downloading a file in a computer, there will be an options given in what would you do with the file. Options are Open and or Save the file, a selections will pop-up to where you want to save the file. Choose your desired drive and folders to save the downloaded program. If you could expand a bit your explanation, post it here so we would find a remedy to your problem. Chao!

The problem may be occurring as a result of two things:

  1. First, it may be because the application that you are downloading has some security settings that are preventing from being saved on your computer, and therefore you will need to get another application. You will need to search internet, another site that has the same application as the one you are having issues saving, and then download it from there. You will have to make sure that it is not write protected too.
  2. The second reason as to why you are receiving that problem may be because the folder location that you are directing the application to be saved to has some write protection, and therefore it cannot allow documents to be saved in it. There I will suggest that you change the folder location where you are saving the file.
