I have a Sony viao laptop running with Ubuntu. It's my bad luck that my motion eye ubuntu drive (i.e. the motion eye webcam) is not working. When I am trying to access through my webcam it gives the camera on standby mode. How can I solve that. Please help me.

Ubuntu have open source drivers for every piece of hardware including web camera. If you can't start your web cam then probably your web cam is not supported. You should submit bug report to launchpad so they will tell you if your camera is supported or not. If your camera is supported then make sure you made the proper setup of your camera.

Your web cam may have a problem with its driver installation. You should scan for its driver, which can be done manually by uninstalling the driver from Device Manager.
You can find Device Manager by right clicking on the My Computer icon on the desktop, choose Properties, then find the Device Manager tab, select your webcam driver, and choose Uninstall.
After that make a device scan from small button on the top of the display, where your system can find your web cam, and install its driver.
If you have the official driver, that will be the very best one to be used.
