I will give you possible solutions for your problem:

1. Please update your antivirus and have a full system scan (You must have a Good and trusted antivirus I recommend using kaspersky and Norton).

2. Have a registry cleaner and fixer (I will give you a link on the program that I am using http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download). Please download and install the program and Run it. Click on the registry and scan for issues and it will fix it.

3. If still the error occurs try upgrading your RAM or have a flashdrive that is 4 GB or 8 GB and use it on readyboost (for windows 7).

This error is very common. And it often occurs due to some issues with your computer performance. But in order to identify the problem, you need to know what are the things that you do before the error came up. Did you recently create any changes on your computer? Do you have an antivirus installed?

Try to perform a clean boot. To do this, click the link below for more information.

Another workaround that you can try when clean boot don't work is to run the System File Checker. This will help you fix the corrupt system files. Go to your Command Prompt and then type sfc /scannow and then press enter.

Next is to repair your hard drive. Run chkdsk on the Command Prompt and press enter. You may also want to know how you can optimize your hard drive, just click on the link below:

Dear Iris Coulter,

The error that you described in your posting shows that your computer is infected with a virus. The Explorer is a file which new files open onto. Your Explorer.exe file is infected with a virus. You can find this file in the C:WINDOWS folder. You should scan your computer now to fix this problem. You cannot repair the file without scanning it. Choose an antivirus software and scan your computer. Thanks.
