Here is one tablet that runs on Windows 8, the Toshiba Encore 2 Write. It runs on Intel Atom Z3735F 1.83 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics, and 64 GB SSD storage. It ships with Microsoft Windows 8.1 with IPS LCD display at 1280 x 800 pixels native screen resolution. It weighs 1.21 pounds and measures 10.2 x 6.9 x 0.35 inches.

It supports Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11n 2.4GHZ/5GHz, micro HDMI, microUSB, and microSD. It has no support for GPS, GSM, WiDi, and WWAN. Standard battery rundown time is 9 hours 3 minutes. The Toshiba Encore 2 Write shows the finest of what you can get in an entry-level Windows tablet. It has a lightweight design that can be used comfortably with long battery life and solid performance.

For the downside, it has quiet speakers and the supported 802.11n Wi-Fi is somewhat outdated. The 1280 x 800 pixels screen resolution can only support 720p video and not the full 1080p HD. The tablet offers a Wacom digitizer and a capacitive pen which gives considerably better pen input than a stylus on a standard non-digitizer touch screen.

It has a front-facing camera that supports 1.2 megapixels and a rear-facing camera that supports 8 megapixels. The MSRP or manufacturer’s suggested retail price is around $399.99.
