Hi Amanda,

If you the rar file you have is not one(1) whole file (ex. Movie, song, or any single file just compressed into one), you might still be able to recover some of the files without using any special software. You can do this by:

1. Right click on the RAR file

2. Choose EXTRACT FILES

3. When you see the pop-up window.  Under MISCELLANEOUS, you will see a KEEP BROKEN FILES option. Click this then extract.

Some of the times when compressing files on Winrar, the file gets corrupted due to a number of issues like bad file location or sectors. Advanced Rar Repair is a tool that offers a solution to such broken or corrupted files.

The application can be downloaded at https://www.datanumen.com/rar-repair/

Although it is good to know that you might not be able to recover all the files
