Hi. I am a college going student currently pursuing my BTech. I have been trying to build my own file server but I fail every time. How to build a file server? Also, before we begin building the file server, what are the requirements to be fulfilled? Please reply ASAP. Thanks in advance.
Hi. Before you begin to build a file server, the following points need to be taken into consideration-
• Configure the operating system properly
• Make sure that the PC is connected to the Active Directory so that the file server can be joined to the domain when required
• Make sure that all the space of the disk which was available has been used up
• Make sure that the NTFS file system which is more secure is being used up by the disk volumes which exist
• Click on the file and printer sharing options in the exceptions menu to enable the Windows Firewall
• Install the security configuration wizard properly and enable it The steps to learn how to build a file server are as given below-
1) To add or remove a role, click on the manage your sever tab and then select the add or remove a role option
2) Click on start, then control panel , double-click on administrative tools and then double-click on the manage your server option to manage the server
3) Click on start, then open control panel, double-click on administrative tools and finally double-click on configure your server wizard option to open the configure your server wizard
4) Click on file server option on the server role page and then click on next
