Hello techyv.com!

I was wondering why my internet connection suddenly gets slower. I have done a lot of reboots and speed test but the result were the same – 3mbps, but I don't think that my connection is 3mbps because it buffers videos really slow. Please teach me how to know briefly my network details. Thanks!

Hello Mary West,

You can easily find the error for your network problems by following these methods. Check that your computer is not on any kind of update such as windows update or any kind of Antivirus update then press the CTRL+ALT+DEL button from your keyboard and go to network properties to check the network speed and finally if you are not able to get it then contact your ISP for the problem solution.

If your ISP’s advertised speed for your internet plan is 3 Mbps, in reality, it is a lot slower. This is true especially on wireless internet connection like 4G LTE and USB dongles. The reason why it is slower than the advertised speed is because in the nature of the connection: wireless. Aside from that, the connection itself depends on the strength of the signal you receive.

If you think your connection is a lot slower but your internet plan’s advertised speed is 3 Mbps, you should check your signal reception. If you are using a wireless broadband USB dongle, check the signal meter on your USB dongle’s dashboard. If the signal level is weak, try moving to another location where signal is good or strong.

But if you are subscribed to a DSL plan, then you should receive what the advertised speed is. If you are connecting to the internet via Wi-Fi, check that you are not too far from the Wi-Fi router because distance affects the stability of the connection. Also, check the number of devices currently connected to the router.

If there are many devices currently connected to the router, expect a very slow internet connection.
