Hey Everyone,

My computer is operating in Vista and I got an issue with the command prompt. Every time I try to open it, it does not say a thing.

It just looks blank.

Blank Error on Command Prompt:

I will need to do a flush DNS and I will need to ping some IP's too.

Please help me.

Stacy,

Window vista has removed the 16 bit support and the DOS smoothly run on the 16 bit support , and that is the reason that you are unable to see the working window of DOS, although in some LCD monitors it may work sometimes, you should better use DOS box X86. It will work fine with window vista version and provide all the facilities of a dos PROMPT, you should better try that one and also DOS and CMD prompt has mutual sharing of commands that are used by the both at the same instance and level.

And regarding ping you can directly run the ping command from the run menu by writing ping and the IP address that is much easier than using command prompt

Hope these ideas will work for you.
