Hi! Can someone please help me with this problem I am encountering while scanning with HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-one Printer?

I am getting error as shown below.

I have tried to uninstall and re-install, then download and install again the software which I got from HP website. But this still appears when scanning.

I can use the printing and copying without any problem but when trying to scan through Photosmart C6380, the error automatically appears.

What should I do to fix it?

HP Scanning

An error occurred in the scanning software. Try the following steps.

After each step, try scanning again.

– Restart the program.

– Reboot the computer.

– Reinstall the HP Photosmart software that came with the device.

Hi Bianca,

Can you tell me what IP segment you are using for both your PC and Printer? Is it on the 10.0.0.x segment? It seems that there have been some issues or errors on the codes for the HP printer.

You may try to change and switch your IP address. You can try to use 192.168.1.x range. As it seems this ip segment is the one that is accepted. If you try to change it on another ip segment it will not work. You can try to input the IP segment on your PC as 192.168.1.1 and your printer as 192.168.1.2.

Try to scan to other applications such as MS Word.

Scan multiple documents and see if you will still encounter the same issue.

If you do, then the issue is because of your HP software.

Reinstall the HP Photosmart C6380 driver.

If you don't have the disk anymore, you can download it here.

And also, the possible fix for this issue is to ensure that your printer is under the same network segment (192.168.1.x) maybe you are using a different IP address.

The HP Development team might not have a fix yet for issues such as when users used a different scheme.

So go back to the old IP address format.

It seems the problem is with the driver and not with the printer scanner. If this problem always happens and prevents you from using the scanner, try downloading the driver again. Visit HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-One Printer then select your operating system from the page. When selecting your operating system, you need to know the architecture of your platform like whether you are using 32-bit or 64-bit.

HP Photosmart C6380 All-in-One Printer

On the download page, you need to download the “HP Photosmart C6300/6324 All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Driver”. This is the complete software package for your printer scanner. To know if you are using 32-bit or 64-bit, on your desktop, right-click “My Computer” and select “Properties”. On the next screen, in “General” tab, if you see “64-bit” that means you have 64-bit Microsoft Windows.

But if you don’t see it, that means you have 32-bit Microsoft Windows.
