How to make a PC detect an XBOX hard drive

I am trying to salvage the hard drive from my Xbox and connect it to a PC, but it is not being detected at all. Is there a way I can make my computer detect it? Is the hard drive locked which could have prevented it from being detected? What are some steps I can do to make it work?

How to make a PC detect an XBOX hard drive

Hi!

You did not state the method of doing your attempt in salvaging the hard drive.  If you mean you are trying to retrieve the hard drive from the Xbox, I would like to think you know the proper method of doing that removal attempt.

It is not good to speculate whether the hard drive is locked since you also did not mention if you have locked it in the first place. But there is a hard drive that can be locked using a password. Usually, it is built on a case where an app has the control. In Xbox ,this is not the case.

To connect that retrieved hard drive, you need a device that would establish the connection. You did not mention how the connection in the first place was made. Depending on the kind of hard drive you have, you need to have a readily available connector that can be found in a case designed to store hard drive (see picture below) or simply a connector itself so that you can connect the Xbox hard drive directly to PC (see picture).
