 I am just amazed at the development of the internet. I mean how a single mail can be sent to so many people at the same time and how their responses to the mail for further preferences are even recorded. How do mailing lists work and how do only the selected people receive the E-mails?

Yes, the automated mailing lists helps in the widespread distribution of info to many internet users with Email ID. A mailing list refers to:

• List of Email addresses

• List of the subscribers

• The Email message publication

• The reflector i.e. the original message Now, these lists works using some special software and the address of the reflector is set up on a special server that can receive Email. The incoming messages are processed by the software and acted upon accordingly.
