How to display video output from laptop to TV using HDMI

I want to use my laptop for streaming videos/movies and display it on my Samsung 32" LCD flat screen TV. My laptop has a VGA connector, but I want a digital output so I'm thinking of using HDMI. My laptop does not have an HDMI port. How do I connect my laptop to the TV using an HDMI cable? There are adapters available online I can purchase, will it work?

Yes, there are plenty of adapters that you can use to connect your TV.
 
You con tray with the StarTech HDMI to VGA adapter. That is a reliable adapter and is not too expensive. Max resolution is 1920 x 1080 which will provide an excellent video quality on your TV.
 
Also, there are some models of the same brand that includes and audio channel.
