Hello,

You want to know how to connect a VOIP over LAN software. As you are making a report you should know that VOIP can connect with computer to computer, in computer to phone or in phone to computer.

This can happen not only on the internet, but on a LAN as well. The network should be IP-enabled, the IP should be running and controlling packet transfer on your network. This way you can communicate with another person on the same network. Whether you are communicating over the internet or a LAN, you need to have adequate bandwidth. If you have around 50kbps, it will work but 100 kbps is perfect for good voice quality in conversation.

Hi,

The basic things you need to connect a voice over internet protocol over local area network is very simple. You can pass your voice over internet in three different ways. First is computer to computer, second is computer to phone and vice verse, third is phone to phone. All these means are very cheaper to take abroad in comparison of normal PSTN phone. What you basically need is a computer, a network connection having internet protocol, a VoIP software like Skype, eyebeam, domain name of the service provider (it is an IP address provided by the service provider), user id and password.

As you are talking about voice over LAN so we must not consider internet from this perspective. You can use Cisco voice server for this purpose which can operate more than 540 IP phones easily and all the calls made to each other will be 100% free of cost as they will be over a LAN. If you do not want to mess with the routers, then you can install Cisco Call Manager on your PC and it will operate all the IP phones (either softphone or hard phone) without any extra hardware.
