Yesterday I came to know that one can change the look and feel of start menu of windows XP. This was something new to me, I have not heard about such stuff. Is it really possible? I want to add few internet links to my start menu. I know we have bookmark options to bookmark a page or site, but I just want to try this for an experiment purpose. Can this be done easily? Can someone tell me the steps to do this?

Hello,

Changing the feel of Windows XP’s start menu is possible. You can change the layout of your current start menu or completely transform it into other start menu types like Windows 7 or Windows 8’s start menu.

You can customize your start menu from the Control Panel.

1. Go to Start menu >> Control Panel.

2. Select “Switch to Classic View” from left pane.

3. Click “Taskbar and Start Menu”.

4. Click “Start Menu” tab >> check “Start Menu” box.

5. Click “Customize”.

Here, you can change icon size, number of programs listed etc.

But there’s a software called ViStart that can change the entire look of Start menu. It’s designed for Windows XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8. You can get different looks with customizable themes, download lots of skins and much more. Get ViStart.
