I am playing call of duty game in my laptop. Laptop is from Dell Inspiron series, i5 processor with 4 GB RAM. It has a turbo boost feature which makes processor increase clock speed during high performance requirement. What I have notices is that, whenever I play the game, after around 20-25 minutes I cannot even touch the part close to the fan. I am keeping it on a flat table and exhaust is not an issue. Is it normal for laptop get that much heated up? Is it okay if I continue playing on? Any other self measures are there in laptop to prevent over heat disaster?

I think that you are playing the latest Call of Duty, an addictive game. I hope the game experience is too good so that you are playing it continuously. The heating problem while playing games are normal because of the higher graphics the game consists.

1. But still you can check for the latest drivers for graphics in the vendor site.

2. You can also go for an additional cooling fan to reduce the heat.

If the system overheats your bios will stop the system if it reaches a critical point.

Yes, that’s normal when you are playing a game or when using graphics and video editing software. You will always experience it when the CPU usage is high. If your laptop still runs well even if the side is already hot, it means the cooling system is still working. On the other hand, if you want to make the machine go a little cooler, you can use cooling pads.

Try checking Laptop Cooling Pad 2 Fan USB Powered on eBay. This is for 14-inch to 17-inch size laptops. It costs $15.29 with free shipping worldwide. See exclusions to check if your country is included for free shipping. Also check Mini Vacuum Air Extracting USB Cooling. It is a vacuum-like device you attach on the side of your laptop and plugs to your USB port.
