I am unable to open a JPG file from the following directory as shown in the error message. When I try to open the image using GIMP, the following error message displays which is very annoying to me. How can I resolve this issue? Please guide me with a better solution. I have to prepare my project as soon as possible. I would be grateful to you. Thanks in advance.
Opening ‘/run/media/Roberts/STUFF/Docs/Personal/Cartoons/Boehner.jpg’ failed
Unknown file type
Failed to open a JPG file using GIMP
Try to uninstall and install again, mostly it will work. Before installing, clean the cache by typing the command in terminal: "sync; sudo echo 3 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches".
To remove Gimp from Ubuntu, type "sudo apt-get remove gimp" and press "Enter." Then add the following PPA :
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp
sudo apt-get update
Now to install Gimp, type " sudo apt-get install gimp" and press "enter".
If at all there is more than one instance of Gimp projects, please close them and try opening the jpeg file. Image file can also be corrupt, check by opening other jpeg files. Also try in standard viewer or F-spot.
