Machine readable statements are those that have been written in format that can be understood by computers and other electronic devices. Human statements like English statements cannot be understood by machines, and therefore when you feed computers with English statements, they are converted into machine language which is able to be understood by the computer. When the computer displays the statements to the user, they will be converted from the machine language to the human readable language for you to be able to understand them. Therefore we can bring in the concept of the external device by saying that computer detect external devices that are attached to them using a machine language intelligence which can be compared to how people listen to other people.
