Error on installing HP Photosmart D71000 Series

I have been trying to hook up my device with HP Photosmart D71000 series.

However, while trying to install the software, I keep getting this error message; software cannot be installed using the ‘Run as’ command.

It also suggests that it should be logged in with admin privileges, tried it but the same error message pops-up.

I have been searching the internet on how to solve this problem but found nothing.

Can someone help me?

Error on installing HP Photosmart D71000 Series


If you are using Windows XP, then Log on as Administrator and try installing the program.

If you are using any Windows Server edition, then you will also have to log in as Administrator to install the program.

If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7 then try installing the software by right clicking the main exe/setup file and choosing the run as administrator option.

If this does not work in windows Vista or 7, then you may have to set the compatibility of the software and then run the program as administrator.

To set the compatibility, right the main setup file and click properties. Click the compatibility tab.

Click & choose the compatibility mode as Windows Service pack 2 and from the bottom click the run as administrator mode.

Click ok.

Now, double click the main setup file.

The setup will start normally.
