How can I watch my computer’s desktop in my coworker’s computer? I really need to do it. I know there is an option in windows 7 to do it. But I do not know how to do it. Is it possible to if I and my coworker use different operating system? As an example, I am using windows 7 ultimate and my coworker is using windows vista ultimate. Is it possible to do this between this to computer?

Yes, windows 7 operating system has an option for connecting your computers desktop to another computer, you can connect your computer to a remote computer and from that remote computer you can access your desktop and all the programs in your computer so you will feel that you are working in front of your own computer. So for example you can connect your office computer with your personal computer at home and access your office computer and do the work as if you are sitting in front of your office computer.

  • You can connect to remote desktop if you are using Windows 7 professional or Windows 7 ultimate or Windows 7 enterprise. Similarly you cannot connect to a computer that uses windows vista starter or Windows vista home basic or Windows vista home basic N or windows vista home premium. But you can connect form these operating systems to other versions of windows. Similarly you cannot connect to windows XP home edition.
  • For connecting to a remote desktop you can select the start button and then the control panel. In the control panel you can select the system. You can then select the remote settings option. There you can find three options you can select one of the option and then you can click on the select users, there you can select the users and then click next. You can then click on the locations to search for the locations. In the enter the object names you can enter the user name and then you can click ok.
  • In the search box of you computer you can enter the word remote desktop connection and then from the list displayed you can click on the remote desk top connection. You can then click on the options button and then make the necessary changes required for you. After that you can enter the computer name that you want to connect with.
  • If you want you can save your settings, you can click on the general tab and then click on the save button for saving the settings. After that you can click on the connect button for making the connection. Through this connection you can access the desktop and all the programs in the remote computer.
  • To connect to the remote computer you can select the start button and then you can click on the control panel, after that you can select the remote app and desktop connections, from that you can click on the set up new connection. There you can enter the URL of the computer to which the connection should be made. Then you can select the program or desktop that you want to access. After that you can click on the connect button.
  • You may sometimes need to specify the RD gateway for making remote desktop connection on a very large enterprise network connection. For that you can type remote desktop connection in the search box and then click on the remote desktop connection, then you can select the options and under the advanced tab you can click on the connect from any where and then enter the RD gateway details.

Thanks Derrick andrews,

This is what i was looking for the past couple of weeks on how to connect my home's pc with my office's pc.

Anyway you really helped me in solving a problem. Now I'm able to retrieve any data from my personal computer directly to office pc. Really Saves a lot of time with this technique.
