I am using Microsoft Office 2003; I run the Publisher and when I clicked on one of the publication design it says

This feature is not currently installed” I tried installing unavailable features from it.

The dialog box says that I need to use the Office installation CD in order to complete the installation of the missing feature of the publisher, but after the configuration an error message appears, Windows Installer error. See the image below.

Microsoft Office Publisher

Publisher cannot run this wizard.

Microsoft Office Publisher cannot install the necessary files due to Windows Installer error 1619.

Can someone help me how to troubleshoot this error? Thanks in advance.

When you first installed Microsoft Office 2003, at the end of the installation it will ask you to if you want to delete installation files that is around 200MB more or less. That file contains an updates that is needed for the Office application to install missing features. The only thing that you can do is to have a clean installation of the application.

Uninstall first the Microsoft Office 2003 on your computer and Install it again. I suggest that do not delete the installation files that will be prompted to you after the setup is finished. You can use that installation files to update not only the Publisher but the whole Office application.

I don’t remember if Windows Installer is required in installing any package of Microsoft Office. But it seems that your problem here deals with Windows Installer. Try doing a clean installation of Microsoft Office instead of just adding some features in the package. Uninstall first Microsoft Office 2003 from your computer. Restart your computer if the system requests it. Next, check your computer for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the system.

Then after that, make sure that there is a version of Windows Installer installed on your computer if ever Microsoft Office 2003 requests it. If it is not yet installed on your system, visit http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8483 and then download Windows Installer 4.5 Redistributable. This version of Microsoft Windows Installer (MSI) supports Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2008, Windows XP, and Windows Vista. If your operating system is not included on the list, download the right version for your operating system.

You can now proceed on installing Microsoft Office 2003. This time, make sure that all features you require are all enabled.
