Codec Error: GOM Media Player not responding

Hi, everyone,

My GOM Media Player has not been responding for a few days now. I always get this error message:

"Cannot play this media file error 0x00000051"

I didn't upgrade the player with the new version. I searched around the GOM Media Player Forum and they say it's a codec error but I don't understand how this could happen because it was working just fine before.

I never did to find out the "codec finder" they were talking about in the forum.

Thank you for helping.

Hey dear,

As you told your Gom player was working fine before so before taking an action you should wait and do some treatment. As for example reload or restart stream, restart your device etc.

You should clear of your temporary and useless files from your device. If these action do not bring about any change please take further action. As for example download the latest player and install it.

Please make sure your antivirus is off, because antivirus may block installing some feature that will cause you the problem again. Try to use Internet explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google chrome alternatively.

After reinstall try to play stream, but again make sure your antivirus is off again before starting the stream.

I hope you will have a good luck.

That error can be a problem with the codec. If you are trying to play a particular video and the codec is not available on your computer, you will have a similar error. The easiest way to fix the problem is to install the necessary codec. Try downloading K-Lite Codec Pack Mega.

This mega variant of the K-Lite codec pack is the largest of the four variants: basic, standard, full, and mega. This codec pack provides everything that you need to play all your audio and video files. This codec pack also includes ACM/VFW codec which can be used by video encoding/editing programs. This codec pack includes Media Player Classic so you can immediately play your files.

The latest version at the moment is K-Lite Codec Pack Mega 15.0.9. For Windows XP Service Pack 3, the latest and last compatible version is K-Lite Codec Pack Mega 13.8.5. If you haven’t updated yet, download the latest GOM Player. The latest version at the moment supports Windows XP Service Pack 3 (32-bit only), Windows Vista (32-bit only), Windows 7, Windows 8.x, and Windows 10.

It requires 2 GB RAM and 200 MB free space. You can also use MPlayer for Windows or the latest VLC media player.
