Samsung Galaxy Ace is pre loaded with Android OS v2.3 Gingerbread. But it is possible to upgrade it to Android 4.1 Jellybean. But remember that you need to be advanced user to perform this as this can cause damage if done incorrectly. This guide is for Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830.

You will first need to download the following:

1. Your Samsung Galaxy Ace should have at least 70% of battery charge to avoid interruption.

2. You have backup all the data on your mobile phone.

3. You need to install Clockworkmod Recovery on your Ace. This is important as you will be needing this to flash the ROM.

4. Download Cyanogenmod 10 ROM package.

5. Download Google Apps for Jelly Bean or the GApps.

And then connect your Ace to your computer and follow the steps below:

1. Choose "Enable USB Storage" on your phone. This is to mount your external memory on your PC.

2. Copy the Cyanogenmod 10 and the GApps on the root directory of your MicroSD or to any folder you want.

3. Disconnect your phone to the PC.

4. Turn off your Ace to be able to boot into the Recovery Mode. You will need to use the Recovery to flash the Cyanogenmod 10.

5. Press and then hold the Home button and the Power button at the same time to go into the Clockworkmod Recovery.

6. When in the CWM recovery, choose the "Wipe data/ Factory Reset" and the "Wipe Cache Partition". This will remove all the data on your Ace so you need to ensure that you already back up your fileS.

7. Select the "Install Zip from SD Card" and then "Choose Zip from SD Card" options. Go to the ROM file or the cm-10-20121205-UNOFFICIAL-cooper.zip. Highlight it and then press Yes to continue. The ROM installation will now start.

8. When the ROM is successfully installed, your phone will go to recovery mode.

9. Select the "Install Zip from SD Card" and then "Choose Zip from SD Card" options again and then search for the Google Apps package file or the gapps-jb-20121130-signed.zip. Tap Yes to install it.

10. When done flashing both files, choose Reboot System Now and you are done.

If you wish to go back to your previous ROM, just go to the Recovery mode and then choose Backup and Restore option and then select Restore and choose your backup file to restore.
